Voice lessons
Voice lessons are taught privately by appointment in Wendy Parman’s studio on the north side of Chicago, as well as beginning piano and performance coaching. She offers periodic workshops as well as hosting a regular Singer’s Salon. Wendy will instruct you in all aspects of singing including breath management and support, tone, resonance, range, registration/blend, diction, and placement, as well as releasing unwanted habits, chronic tensions, and expressing the emotional life and text of the song. She will coach you on how to approach singing, auditioning and performing at your best!
She is adept at helping singers find their special connection to the song as well as the audience. She is classically trained, but also uses modern techniques that are suited to contemporary music of all kinds, from Rock ‘n roll to musical theater, jazz, blues, soul, country and more. As a songwriter herself, Wendy frequently coaches singer/songwriters not only on singing technique but ways to perform their songs more effectively. Wendy’s whole Body/Voice approach includes Somatic Voicework™ The Lovetri Method, Linklater and Alexander Techniques, among others.
Wendy enjoys working with students of all ages and levels of ability. Feel free to reach out with questions or concerns. NEW! Now offering online lessons!
As an instructor, Wendy is most interested in helping students find their true voice and artistic style, as well as the pure joy of singing effortlessly. She teaches students to find expression through and with a foundation of technique, rather then in spite of it. Her style is nurturing, yet disciplined, and sprinkled liberally with good natured humor.

Wendy enjoys working with students of all ages and levels of ability. Feel free to reach out with questions or concerns.

Singer’s Salon

The Singer’s Salon premiered in 2011 and has enjoyed a number of incarnations at various venues, originating at Deagen Music, then finding at home at 3160-Chicago’s Piano Bar & Cabaret, DC Torium, and now mostly at Wendy Parman Voice Studio in the Irving Park neighborhood. It is an open mic, with piano accompanist provided, (the marvelous Justin Bernard Bowse), usually BYOB and lots of fun. An opportunity to perform in a casual and supportive environment. Contact Wendy for more info. Dates are periodically updated.

  1. Various offerings look interesting. I’d especially like to know more about the 3-week Singer’s Spotlight Workshop.

    • Thanks for your interest Leona! I am looking to put together a new Spotlight Workshop and will let you know-probably will be one this summer. I no longer have my previous venue for the performance so I have to iron out the details. 🙂

  2. hi Wendy could you please provide me your open spot for voice lessons for my son and daughter, please email me.

  3. Hi Wendy,

I received your name from Shivani Twells whose son, Arjun took piano lessons with you.
I have an (almost) 7 year old son who has been taking lessons for two years. His teacher has moved, so I’m looking into other possible teachers. I would appreciate information about your classes, fees and location of your studio.
    Thank you so much,

    Brett Garry

    • Hi Shannon, Why don’t you email me your questions at wlparman@gmail.com. If you’d like to talk on the phone or text, we can do that as well at 773-474-8471. Leave me a message and I’ll get back to you. However tomorrow, Friday I am really swamped, so I may not get back to you until Saturday.
Look forward to hearing from you,
